California Department of Public Health Reports Single, Possible Case of Bird Flu Virus in Child with Mild Symptoms
California has identified a possible bird flu case in a child who has had mild respiratory symptoms and is recovering at home. Human infections with bird flu viruses are rare, and no person-to-person spread has been detected in California or the United States.

E. coli Outbreak Linked to Organic Carrots
Multiple Health Agencies are investigating a multistate outbreak of E. coli O121 infections linked to multiple brands of recalled organic whole bagged carrots and baby carrots sold by Grimmway Farms. Carrots on store shelves right now are likely not affected but may be in people's homes.

CDPH Lifts Warning about Sport-Harvested Shellfish from Monterey County
The California Department of Public Health (CDPH) has lifted the shellfish safety notification today, November 12, 2024, related to sport-harvested mussels, clams, and scallops from Marin and Monterey Counties.

More Ground Cinnamon Products Added to FDA Public Health Alert Due to Presence of Elevated Levels of Lead
Through product testing by state programs & confirmed by the FDA, the FDA has determined that certain ground cinnamon products contain elevated levels of lead & that exposure to these products may be unsafe. The FDA is advising consumers to throw away and not to buy these products.

Expanded Recall of Dynacare Baby Powder due to possible asbestos contamination
Dynacare Baby Powder recall has been issued because the products have the potential to be contaminated with asbestos. Asbestos is a naturally occurring mineral that is often found near talc. Asbestosis a known carcinogen and its health risks are well-documented. The product was distributed by Amazon
