NEW!  The County of Monterey Housing and Community Development Department is soliciting input on the Draft Program Environmental Impact Report (DPEIR) for the Draft Sixth Cycle (2023-2032 Housing Element Update Project.

~

Accepting comments through October 25th, 2024. The County of Monterey has commissioned a report on the Salinas Valley groundwater basin pursuant to Policy PS-3.1 of the 2010 General Plan. The report evaluates seawater intrusion, groundwater levels, and the total water demand for all existing uses with models predicting future uses through 2030.

Staff will return to the Board on November 12th, 2024, with to consider the report and any comments on its content. Ultimately, measures that address the findings of the investigation will be considered. Please submit comments to carrolls@countyofmonterey.gov by October 25, 2024.

NEW!  The Final Environmental Impact Report (EIR) for the Carmel Lagoon Ecosystem Protective Barrier (EPB), Scenic Road Protection System (SRPS) and Interim Sandbar Management Plan (ISMP) (REF 120051) (“Carmel Lagoon Project”) has been released for public review.

Eucalyptus Tree Removal Pilot Program: UPDATE! District 2 Residents  - The County is piloting a Eucalyptus Tree Removal Program in your area over summer 2024.  Under the program, qualified applicants may be able to get up to 50% off of the cost of Eucalyptus tree removal for trees located within the defensible space of structures and roadways on their properties. Applications, guidelines and other important information will be available from June 26 through August 31, 2024.

County of Monterey IT Department Successfully Restores Core Systems Amid CrowdStrike Software Issue
The County of Monterey Information Technology Department has effectively addressed and resolved challenges stemming from a software issue with CrowdStrike, which impacted several county core systems. As of now, all of the County of Monterey's key services are fully operational, including the critical emergency communications system, ensuring that it is serving the residents of the County of Monterey. For additional information click here.
