The State Local Housing Trust Fund grant program provides matching funds to establish local housing trust funds.  The housing trust funds are dedicated to the creation, rehabilitation, or preservation of affordable housing, transitional housing, and emergency shelters.  The County is currently working with the cities of Gonzales, King City, Salinas, and Pacific Grove and the Monterey Bay Economic Partnership to establish and capitalize a local housing trust.  The County continues to work on recruiting the other cities to join this effort.  The County is contributing $934,000 from the Permanent Local Housing Allocation grant and $200,000 from the General Fund to capitalize the trust fund.
