Property Tax Postponement Program

The Property Tax Postponement Program allows eligible homeowners to postpone payment of property taxes on a primary residence. To be eligible for PTP, you must:

• Be at least age 62 or blind, or have a disability;
• Own and occupy the home as your primary place of residence;
• Have a total household income of $53,574 or less;
• Have at least 40 percent equity in the property; and
• Other requirements.

Difficulty Paying in Two Installments?

Option 1: Set up an Impound Account with your Lender

Many times, you can adjust your monthly mortgage payment through your lender to include your yearly property taxes. These amounts are added as part of your mortgage payment and then paid by your lender directly to our office on the required due dates.  Many lenders will do this at no cost to you.

Option 2: Set up an account with a bank

Open a savings or "holiday club" account with your bank.  Take your current tax bill and add about 3% for rising valuations and voter approved measures.  Divide that amount by 12 or your intended deposit frequency.  You can then accumulate the funds and pay your property tax installments when due.  There are many no cost accounts available, and most will pay you interest on the funds you have on deposit.

Option 3: Work with Easy Smart Pay

This is a new service that you can contract with to make monthly tax payments via ACH or credit card. This vendor will accumulate your partial payments and then remit your installment payments to us when due. Click here to learn more and sign up.
