Masks/Face Coverings
There are currently no federal, state, or local requirements for employee masking. However, businesses may adopt universal masking requirements to provide better protection to their employees and customers.

Exposures and Outbreaks
Please use the following guidance documents that provide support for you as an employer to respond to this situation:

Follow proper isolation/quarantine for employee

Notify all employees of possible outbreak
Major outbreaks are defined as 20 or more cases within a 30-day period and require certain actions. Face coverings are required regardless of employee vaccination status.
Reporting Requirements Steps for COVID-19 Cases to MCHD
Step 1: Send sick employee(s) home for isolation
Step 2: Identify and notify close contacts
Step 3: Notify all employees of possible exposure
Step 4: Complete workplace outbreak tracking spreadsheet and return to workplaceoutbreak@co.monterey.ca.us.

Reporting Requirements for COVID-19 Cases Cal/OSHA
Any serious injury, illness, or death occurring in any place of employment or in connection with any employment must be reported by the employer to the local Cal/OSHA district office immediately.
Testing and Vaccinations
In some circumstances, Title VII and the ADA require an employer to provide reasonable accommodations for employees who, because of a disability or a sincerely held religious belief, practice, or observance, do not get vaccinated for COVID-19, unless providing an accommodation would pose an undue hardship on the operation of the employer’s business.
The employee can obtain a digital vaccine record card at Digital COVID-19 Vaccine CA website.
If there are issue will the digital card call State Call Center: 833-422-4255.
Depending on where the employee received their vaccination they may be able to get a copy from the provider.
