Services Provided to Health Care Providers by the Monterey County TB Control Unit

  • Answer questions about Tuberculosis for Providers and Community members.
  • Accept referrals from providers for patients suspected of Active TB.
  • Provide sputum collection and testing for providers
    • Prior to LTBI treatment or to rule out TB disease.
  • Manage every case of active TB in Monterey County.
  • Provide Direct Observed Theraphy (DOT) for all active TB patients and LTBI patients on request.
  • Assist TB patients to get meds and be seen by Infectious Disease MD.
  • We don't provide routine blood tests for TB for the public.  We recommend using your Primary Care Provider (PCP), or visiting and urgent care clinic.
  • We don't have a clinic for treating Latent TB infection.  We recommend working with your PCP, we can assist them as needed.
  • The TB Unit can help patients find a provider at a low or not cost to get LTBI treatment.  Call us for more information.
