John Beuerle, M.D., M.S.
John Beuerle grew up in Maryland and completed his undergraduate studies at University of Maryland College Park. During his undergraduate years, he joined Wheaton Volunteer Rescue Squad in Montgomery County, Maryland where he served for twelve years as an EMT, firefighter, paramedic, paramedic field training officer, and duty crew officer. As a member of Maryland’s busiest heavy rescue organization, he received training in automobile extrication, search and rescue, practical rescue, pump operations, and swift water rescue.
In addition to his volunteer experience in the fire service, John worked as a critical-care paramedic for The Johns Hopkins Hospital and was both an ACLS and PALS instructor. He completed a Master of Science program in medical pathology and subsequently earned his Doctor of Medicine degree from Chicago Medical School before returning to Baltimore to complete his emergency medicine residency at University of Maryland Medical Center and the R. Adams Cowley Shock Trauma Center.
Following residency, he moved to California where he continued his career as an emergency department physician. He has lived and worked in the Bay Area since 2008, has served as Assistant Medical Director and Director of Quality Improvement at an urban Level II trauma center, and lectures annually for the California Academy of Physician Assistants.
Dr. Beuerle has served as EMS Medical Director for Monterey County since August 2019. He enjoys collaborating with the county’s hospitals, fire departments, and EMS providers in the continued delivery of exceptional Emergency Medical Services to the residents of Monterey County.
