enLACE (Leadership And Civic Engagement)

enLACE is offered by the Monterey County Health Department to community residents interested in exploring the importance of civic engagement and its relationship to the health and well-being of the community.

The enLACE program provides community members an opportunity to learn more about leadership and provides the tools to encourage participants to engage in the processes needed to make positive and healthy changes in their communities. The program was started based on research that an engaged community is a healthy community.

The program is eight weeks long and addresses topics such as local government decision making and budget process, prevention and safety issues.

enLACE means to link, to connect in Spanish. And that is what enLACE has accomplished, it has provided a space for community members to connect with each other and with community leaders. This connection coupled with the knowledge they have received through enLACE, has inspired us all to envision a healthier community that can exist when we all work together.

Previous enLACE cohorts:

  • Salinas Cohort (Spanish)
  • King City Cohort (Spanish)
  • Seaside Cohort (Spanish)
  • Seaside Cohort (English | Currently in progress)
