The Cooperative Water Program of the United States Geological Survey (USGS) is a national program that is designed to meet the water science needs of state, local, and tribal governments using the broader resources and capabilities of the USGS. The MCWRA, along with neighboring Counties, the US Army Corps of Engineers, the California Department of Water Resources, and the USGS jointly funds critical stream flow, water level, and water quality sites throughout the watersheds that affect Monterey County. Water data from these sites are collected and processed by the Santa Cruz office of USGS in accordance with USGS standards and protocols and made available to the public at no cost on the web.
