Used Motor Oil & Filter Recycling
Help protect our soil and waters by recycling your used motor oil.
Used motor oil is hazardous to you and our environment. This toxic substance accounts for more than 40 percent of oil pollution in our nation’s waterways.
Used Oil filters contain approximately 10 ounces of used motor oil which makes them hazardous. These filters are prohibited in the landfill and should be properly recycled. Taking advantage of the three convenient ways to recycle and reuse your used motor oil and filters will keep harsh containments from polluting our environment:
Monterey County Garbage Service subscribers with cart service can recycle up to 2.5 gallons of used oil and one filter a week when they use the container and filter bag provided by their garbage company. Call your garbage company for more information on how to obtain one free.
RESIDENTS PLEASE KEEP IN MIND THAT YOUR GARBAGE HAULER WILL PROVIDE A REUSED CONTAINER AT ALL TIMES. For more information please contact Recycling Services @ (831)755-4505, Recycle@co.monterey.ca.us
