Do Not Use Infant Head Shaping Pillows to Prevent or Treat Any Medical Condition- FDA Safety Communication
The Food and Drug Administration recommends that parents & caregivers do not use infant head shaping pillows intended to change an infant’s head shape or symmetry or claim to prevent or treat any medical condition. The use of head shaping pillows can create an unsafe sleep environment for infants.

Sport-Harvested Mussel Quarantine remains in Monterey County
The warning against eating sport-harvested bivalve shellfish (including mussels, clams, and scallops) from Monterey county remains in effect, due to elevated levels of PSP toxins detected in mussels from these counties. The naturally occurring PSP toxins can cause illness or death in humans.

Monterey County Health Department to Begin Vaccinating Children 6 Months to 4 Years of Age on June 25th
The Monterey County Health Department’s Public Health Bureau received its first shipment of COVID-19 vaccine authorized for use in children 6 months to 4 years of age. The Public Health Bureau will offer COVID-19 vaccine to everyone 6 months of age and older beginning Saturday, June 25th.

Skunk and Bat test positive for rabies in Salinas and Chualar Canyon area
A skunk found on April 26th near the East Romie Lane area in the City of Salinas, has tested positive for the rabies virus. This is the second instance of wildlife testing positive for the rabies virus in the last week. On April 22, a Mexican Freetail Bat was also confirmed to be positive for rabies
