- Members of the public who wish to report a public health emergency or health risk outside of normal business hours should call 9-1-1. Members of the public with a medical emergency should always call 9-1-1.
The Monterey County Health Department’s Communicable Disease Unit is responsible for preventing and controlling the spread of infectious diseases like Salmonellosis, E. coli infection, influenza, whooping cough, West Nile virus, chlamydia, and gonorrhea.
