Established April 1, 1972, pursuant to Economic Opportunity Act of 1964 (Public Law 90-222, Title II, Section 210) as amended in 1967 by Public Law 80-222, Title II, Section 211. Re-established by Board of Supervisors Resolution 80-443, adopted August 5, 1980; amended by Resolution No. 89-415. Name changed from Community Services Commission to Community Action Commission on June 15, 1999, Resolution No. 99-243; Amended By-laws, January 7, 2003.
The Community Action Commission advises the Board of Supervisors on issues related to poverty in Monterey County, and administers funding related to services for low-income people. Members represent the public, private, and low-income segments of the community, and reflect the race, economic status and gender of the community.
Meeting Date, Time and Place: Meetings are held the third Monday of each month from 4:00-6:00 p.m.
