Nicholas Pasculli

Nicholas Pasculli joined the County of Monterey on February 14, 2022 and is responsible for developing, implementing and managing the County's communications programs, initiatives and activities. As such, he advises the Board of Supervisors and the County Administrative Officer on the formulation, strategic development, implementation and evaluation of the County's communications programs, community and government relations, crisis management and media relations activities. A key component of Nick's responsibilities is to develop and implement a plan to coordinate and integrate all County communications assets and to serve as principal spokesperson on countywide issues.

Prior to his selection as County Communications Director, Mr. Pasculli was president and CEO of TMD Creative, a Salinas based firm providing marketing, communications and creative services to business, government agencies and non-profits for over 22 years. Nick has also held executive positions with the American Red Cross, ITT World Communications, the Bank of New York, the Bank of Salinas, Tanimura and Antle, Naturipe Berry Growers, and D'Arrigo Brothers.

Nick holds a Bachelor's of Science degree from California State University Fresno and a Master's of Science degree from Loyola University. He has also graduated from Leadership Salinas Valley, the Cornell University Leadership Program, the California Agricultural Leadership Program and the Professional Development Academy.

Maia Carroll

Maia Carroll is a former radio and television journalist, spending 8 years at KSBW-TV as an anchor and reporter before leaving to pursue her passion for public information and service for non-profit agencies. She held positions at the SPCA of Monterey County and Monterey County History and Art Association. When the County of Monterey created its first public/media communications position in 2001, she jumped at the chance to work alongside her former reporting colleagues and to oversee and support accessibility for the government she covered as a journalist.

Over a 20+ year career, she has guided County media relations, crisis communications, supported internal communications, community engagement and social media. As Executive Producer of the County’s government access channel, she has earned top programming awards from the National Association of Telecommunications Operators and Advisors as well as its regional association SCAN NATOA.

Mayte Anaya

Mayte Anaya is County of Monterey’s Media Analyst with a passion for connecting communities through media. Holding a Bachelor of Arts in Cinematography with honors from San Francisco State University and Master’s in Mass Media Communications with distinction from the University of Florida, Mayte brings a wealth of knowledge and expertise to her role.

Her professional journey is marked by a commitment to building online presences for businesses and organizations, leveraging her skills in both cinematography and mass media communications. Mayte’s ability to tailor information to individuals with diverse backgrounds emphasizes her deep understanding of communication strategies.

As someone who was at the forefront during the pandemic as a COVID Testing Associate, Mayte understands the importance of keeping community members informed in moments of crisis and uncertainty, ensuring that they have access to vital resources and accurate information.

Born and raised in Salinas, Mayte’s return to her hometown is fueled by a deep-rooted connection and a desire to contribute to its advancement. She believes that media plays a pivotal role in fostering understanding and unity within the community.

In her role as County Media Analyst, Mayte is dedicated to fostering deeper community engagement. She is working towards ensuring that the voices of residents are heard and that they feel connected to the county’s initiatives and developments. Mayte thrives on bridging the gap between the County of Monterey and the community, ensuring that citizens are informed and engaged with local affairs.
