Consolidated Oversight Board for the County of Monterey

The Consolidated Oversight Board for the County of Monterey was established in accordance with the California Health and Safety Code § 34179(j) to oversee the activities of the ten redevelopment successor agencies in Monterey County, thereby replacing all other redevelopment successor agency oversight boards, effective July 1, 2018.

The board has fiduciary responsibility to the holders of enforceable obligations and the taxing entities that benefit from the distributions of property tax and other revenues (Health and Safety Code § 34179(i)).

Board Composition

The Countywide Board is appointed as follows:

1. One member appointed by the County of Board of Supervisors ("BOS").

2. One member appointed by the City Selection Committee, established pursuant to Section 50270 of the Government Code.

3. One member appointed by the Independent Special District Selection Committee, established pursuant to Section 56332 of the Government Code, for the types of special districts that are eligible to receive property tax revenues pursuant to Section 34188 of the Health and Safety Code.

4. One member appointed by the Monterey County Superintendent of Education.

5. One member appointed by the Chancellor of the California Community Colleges.

6. One member of the public appointed by the BOS.

7. One member appointed by the recognized employee organization representing the largest number of successor agency employees in the County (SEIU Local 521).

The Office of the Auditor-Controller will be responsible for staffing the Consolidated Oversight Board for the County of Monterey.

Notice of Consolidated Oversight Board Vacancy

The Consolidated Oversight Board is currently accepting applications to fill a vacancy of a Board of Supervisors (Public) Representative. An applicant must be a resident of Monterey County. Interested applicants can apply via the Clerk of the Board’s website https://apps.co.monterey.ca.us/bccsite/Bodies/Display/57 , and applications will be accepted until the vacancy is filled. The appointment will be made by the Board of Supervisors.
