The Monterey County Military and Veterans Affairs Office (MVAO) is open for in-person, virtual, or telephone services during regular business hours (Monday - Friday, 8:00 AM - 5:00 PM). Natividad Medical Center is working closely with the Monterey County Health Department, the California Department of Public Health, along with our other three local hospitals to reduce the potential spread of coronavirus in Monterey County. The public is urged to use the emergency room only for serious illness and medical emergencies like injuries, difficulty breathing, chest pain and altered levels of consciousness. If you have only mild symptoms — and aren’t in a high-risk group — it’s best to contact your physician from home and not come to the hospital.

NMC Covid-19 Hotline:

NMC has developed a bilingual hotline to answer questions from the community about the novel coronavirus (COVID-19). The number for the Natividad Coronavirus Hotline is 1 (831) 772-7365. Natividad nurses are available to speak with you in English or Spanish from 7:00 AM to 11:00 PM, seven days a week.

The hotline is a community resource for timely, accurate information about COVID-19 and virtual screening for people who are experiencing symptoms. Nurses will answer questions and direct patients to the appropriate level of care.

Patients who have COVID-19 symptoms, including fever, cough and shortness of breath, are encouraged to call the hotline before coming to the hospital. If you are experiencing a serious illness or medical emergency such as an injury, chest pain, difficulty breathing or altered levels of consciousness, please seek urgent or emergency care or call 911 and inform the operator of your symptoms.

Visitor Policy:

Due to the evolving situation with novel coronavirus 2019 (COVID-19), it is necessary to restrict visitors until further notice. Effective at 5:00 pm on Saturday, March 21, 2020 no visitors will be allowed into the hospital or clinics except under the following special circumstances:

  1. One banded parent or one banded guardian for NICU and pediatric patients.
  2. One banded birth partner for patients in labor.
  3. One banded support person in MIU.
  4. End-of-life patient will be managed at the discretion of the Nursing Director.
  5. One caregiver if patient needs assistance admitting into the facility or during an outpatient
  6. appointment (e.g., needs help walking, getting to the bathroom, or understanding instructions), at any time.
  7. One parent if patient is a minor seen in ED or during an outpatient appointment.

In addition to the above:

  1. No visitors will be allowed for suspected or actual COVID-19 patients with the exception of one banded parent for pediatric or NICU patient.
  2. Visitor must stay in the patient’s room the entire time of the visit. Once they leave the patient’s room, they must leave the hospital and may not come back until the following day.

All special circumstance visitors may be screened before entering the facilities to ensure they do not have a temperature of 100 degrees or above, or any other symptoms of cough or illness.

We recommend using FaceTime, Skype or the phone in your room to connect with and update your loved ones who cannot visit during your stay. Juvenile Hall

Youth Center

Silver Star Youth Program @ Rancho Cielo

The Public Defender continues to make every effort possible to provide essential services to its clients. Until further notice, the lobby area is closed to walk-in clients. Public Works, Facilities, and Parks (PWFP) continues to provide essential public services that are necessary to protect the health, safety and welfare of our community. Public Works:

Staff continue to provide services to address road and bridge issues by calling (831) 755-4925 or email at 300-servicerequest@co.monterey.ca.us. Services are limited to Monday through Thursday, 6:30 AM to 5:00 PM. Fridays will be handled via callouts by calling 9-1-1

Facilities:

Parks:

As of April 19, 2021, most County parks are open with some restrictions. Playground equipment follows the CDC Guidelines - While playgrounds are available for use, they are signed to be used at one’s own risk as they are not being cleaned, with some exceptions.

San Lorenzo Park remains closed due to housing COVID-positive individuals in State-provided trailers.

Toro Park - while it opened April 19, 2021, all trail areas impacted by the recent River Fire remain closed due to dangerous conditions related to trees. Please adhere to the posted signage.

 

Patrol Operations

The Sheriff-Coroner’s Office is dedicated to ensuring public safety and will remain open 24x7 in order to respond to emergencies. All essential functions are open with appropriate precautions being implemented in order to reduce exposure and ensure the safety and health of our community. Our public lobbies and visitor access are open to the public with limited access during this public health emergency.

Correctional Facilities


In order to protect the health of inmates and staff, all in-person visitation has been suspended. The Sheriff’s Office understands that visitations are important to both those incarcerated and their loved-ones; however, this step is necessary in order to limit the spread of COVID-19. In-person visitations will be reestablished as soon as it is safe.

Due to the Covid-19 emergency, the Treasurer-Tax Collector is operating with reduced staffing and limited hours. Through at least the duration of the County’s Shelter-in Place Order, walk-in customers hours are 9:00 AM to 1:00 PM, Monday through Friday. In compliance with social distancing requirements, it strongly encouraged that payment be made electronically or by mail.
