Museum
Since 1978, the Monterey County Agricultural and Rural Life Museum has acquired, preserved and interpreted artifacts, equipment and buildings relating to Monterey County’s agricultural heritage. A restored farmhouse, one room school, blacksmith shop and King City’s train depot allow visitors to take a step back in time.
Exhibits in the barn trace the development of Monterey County agriculture from Mission Days to the present. The fascinating history of irrigation is recounted in the History of Irrigation Museum. Outdoor displays of farm equipment are reminders of how crops were sown and harvested in years past.
Museum School Tour Program
Fieldtrips are available for grades 1-6, March through June and September through October at Monterey County Agricultural and Rural Life Museum. The museum is located in San Lorenzo Park in King City. The tour focuses on rural life at the turn-of-the-century and includes a one-room school house, the Main Exhibit Barn and the History of Irrigation Museum.
