Mission:
Community Human Services is a nonprofit agency dedicated to providing high quality mental health, substance abuse and homeless services to Monterey County residents to help them reach their full potential. Vision: A community free of substance abuse, mental health challenges and housing instability.

Agency Description:
Community Human Services is a 501c(3) public nonprofit and Joint Powers Authority providing person-centered substance abuse and mental health counseling and recovery services to middle and low income individuals and families in Monterey County, California. Community Human Services helps clients develop new skills and support networks, learn new behaviors, and learn to utilize community resources.

Mission:
The Food Bank for Monterey County is working to end hunger and transform the health of our community through good nutrition. The Foodbank is the largest, most comprehensive provider of emergency supplemental food in our community.

Agency Description:
The Food Bank for Monterey County supplies more than 80% of food distributed by partnering with over 160 nonprofit organizations across Monterey County to provide high quality food, fresh produce, and educational & nutritional resources. Programs include free farmers’ markets, mobile produce pantries, produce deliveries to children and seniors, grocery deliveries to breast cancer patients and their families, and supplemental weekend nutrition for school children. There are 240 direct distribution sites throughout the county, covering a 3700 square-mile territory from San Ardo to Pajaro with sites in each city and many school locations.

Mission:
Gathering for Women’s mission is to provide homeless women on the Monterey Peninsula supportive resources and a caring community. Their vision is for the unhoused and housing insecure women on the Peninsula to live a healthier more secure life that includes a pathway out of homeless or housing insecurity.

Agency Description:
Gathering for Women was founded in 2014 to support, assist, and empower low-income women and improve the quality of their lives. The agency provides nutritious hot meals, clothing, access to showers and hygiene, comprehensive case management, referrals to other community services, and education to promote health and safety.

Agency Description:
Goodwill Central Coast believes that everyone has the right to work, but for many individuals the barriers to employment are too high to overcome alone. Barriers like homelessness, military service, single parenting, incarceration, addiction, and job displacement can define a person’s identity, even when they have so much more to offer. The agency goal is to ensure all community members know their worth and gain skills and confidence to land jobs that could turn their lives around. Each year Goodwill helps thousands of job seekers get back to work and reclaim financial and personal independence. This is achieved by providing a positive learning environment that creates brighter futures through connecting people to meaningful work.

Mission:
Housing Resource Center (HRC) of Monterey County’s mission is to provide a continuum of housing resources for homeless prevention and affordable housing opportunities. HRC fosters community stability, stronger communities, and personal economic empowerment through education, advocacy, counseling, and services.

Agency Description:
HRC was formed in 2009 after a merger between the Housing Advocacy Council and the Monterey County Housing Alliance. The Housing Advocacy Council was founded in 1984 to provide homeless prevention, emergency rental assistance, tenant and landlord counseling, deposit guarantees, and financial literacy education for very-low-income households. The Monterey County Housing Alliance was founded in 2002 to meet the need for housing counseling and education among low to moderate-income households. The merger led to the creation of a cohesive HUD-approved organization that provides a continuum of housing support services and financial literacy education. HRC aims to address individuals’ and families’ basic need for safe, and stable, shelter.

Agency Description:
The North County Recreation and Park District (NCRPD) is a special district that was formed in 1954 through a voter initiative. The District has been serving the North Monterey County area for 61 years with quality recreational facilities and programs, which include sports leagues, recreational activities, and classes for adults. The district is located in a rural setting, with no town hall or city council, and has long been the hub for residents seeking information about local services, activities and agencies.

Mission:
Partnership for Children increases access to medical care for children with serious illnesses and supports their families

Agency Description:
Partnership for Children (PFC) started as a program within the Children's Hospice and Palliative Care Coalition (CHPCC) in 2007. Today, PFC is an independent nonprofit organization that works in partnership with CHPCC. PFC provides services for children who are living with a serious illness by providing safe, free, and reliable rides to medical appointments, as well as gas card subsidies to ease financial burdens. PFC also offers financial subsidies to help families pay for basic living expenses such as rent, utilities, and practical supports such as grocery delivery, diaper supply, and car seats.

Agency Description:
Since 1968, Sun Street Centers has provided comprehensive and effective services for education, prevention and recovery of alcohol addiction and drug abuse. Relying on a recognized social model developed by their founders, Martin and Nancy Dodd, as well as the compassion and experience of staff, Sun Street centers encourages all individuals and families to hope, heal, share and thrive with a drug-free and alcohol-free lifestyle.

Agency Description:
Turning Point of Central California, Inc (Turning Point) was founded in 1970 and provides services in Monterey County as well as nine other counties in California. The Youth Employment Program provides an array of employment and occupational skills training services to out-of-school young adults ages 18-24. Services are provided on site, in schools, at employer work sites, and throughout the community. These services include paid internships, paid work experience, on-the-job training, direct job placement, occupational skills training certification, leadership opportunities, career planning, financial literacy workshops, case management, referrals to community resources and follow-up supportive services.

Agency Description:
United Way Monterey County (UWMC) was established in June 2000 by the union of two United Ways: United Way of the Monterey Peninsula, created in 1929 and United Way of the Salinas Valley, created in 1943. UWMC works collaboratively with local businesses, government, and community benefit organizations to tackle critical issues in the community. UWMC is affiliated with local United Ways throughout the U.S. and internationally, through a network known as United Way Worldwide. Through this network, UWMC shares best practices around community building, fundraising, data sharing, and strategy implementation. United Way has strong corporate relationships and is positioned as a philanthropic partner for businesses with local, regional, and national scope.

Mission:
The YWCA Monterey County is dedicated to eliminating racism, empowering women and promoting peace, justice, freedom, and dignity for all.

Agency Description:
The YWCA Monterey County is a non-profit that is part of a network of over 200 associations across the United States and globally. Programs, conferences, and wrap around services aim to empower the community as a safe place for all clients, irrespective of race, gender, sexual orientation, ethnicity, age, immigration status, or faith. Services include a 24-hour crisis line, crisis housing safe shelter, partnering with law enforcement as part of a domestic violence response team, legal advocacy, immigration support, mental health services, youth outreach, client food banks, supporting victims of human trafficking, and community training and capacity building. The YWCA works with the community to advocate for policies and legislation that ensure progress for all people impacted by poverty, racism, violence, and sexism.
