IN-PERSON APPLICATION FOR AUTHORIZED CERTIFIED COPY OF A CONFIDENTIAL MARRIAGE RECORD:

1. You may complete the application via the internet and transmit it directly to the County Clerk's Office. You will need to come into the County Clerk's Office to pick-up the certified copy within two weeks or the application will be deleted. You must be one of the parties of the confidential marriage or a party entitled to receive the record as a result of a court order pursuant to Family Code Section 511(c) and if this is the case, you must provide a certified copy of the court order. 2. Either party can come into the County Clerk's Office, with a valid Picture ID, to submit the request on the kiosk and complete the process.

(In BOTH cases above, when requesting a confidential certificate in person, the sworn statement on the application must be signed in the presence of a staff member and a valid Picture ID is required.)

MAIL-IN APPLICATION FOR AUTHORIZED CERTIFIED COPY OF CONFIDENTIAL MARRIAGE RECORD:

 

You must be one of the parties of the confidential marriage or a party entitled to receive the record as a result of a court order pursuant to Family Code Section 511(c) and if this is the case, you must provide a certified copy of the court order with your request. Your signature on the sworn statement must be acknowledged by a notary public. Monterey County contracts Vitalchek, a private company, to take orders of certified copies of vital records on-line by credit card. Vitalchek charges a $12.95 processing fee per transaction.
