Job Safety Analysis (JSA)

The Job Safety Analysis (JSA) can be used to evaluate a worker’s job tasks, tools, equipment, and procedures to help determine the level of safety risk and how to control it.  The JSA is a very useful tool in the examination and planning for hazards associated with new tools, equipment, chemicals, tasks, and work environments.  The combination of the findings within the JSA become a supervisor's pre-job tool in not only ensuring the hazards and mitigation plans are communicated properly to the employees, but also in delivering the specific job steps.  This helps a safe job also become a quality and efficient job.
