Safety Audits and Inspections
Workplace safety audits and inspections can be a great starting point for identifying hazards and gaps in a safety program, helping determine where challenges exist.
Inspections are important as they allow to:
- listen to the concerns of workers and supervisors
- gain further understanding of jobs and tasks
- identify existing and potential hazards
- determine underlying causes of hazards
- recommend corrective action
- monitor steps taken to eliminate hazards or control the risk (e.g., engineering controls, administrative controls, policies, procedures, personal protective equipment)

Safety checklists will be utilized to perform inspections of facilities. The inspection checklist will be used to detect and implement correction and repairs.
Corrective Action Tracking
Corrective actions are not only generated by accidents, incidents, or hazard reports that have previously taken place, but also through findings while conducting workplace audits and inspections. Using a corrective action tracking log provides a database to track and trend these actions.
