You and yours are invited to the next First Saturday event sponsored by the Friends of the Carmel Valley Library on Saturday, May 6 starting at 10:15 AM at the Carmel Valley Branch Library.  Hear Walt Koenig, PhD talk about The Communal World of the Acorn Woodpecker!  Learn about a long-running research project that’s happening right here in Carmel Valley! Based on a study of the Acorn Woodpeckers at Carmel Valley’s Hastings Reservation, Walt will discuss some of the strikingly and cooperative and surprisingly competitive behaviors of this species.  This is a must-attend event for local bird watchers and lovers!  Free light refreshments will be served.  Parking and seating are limited, so it is strongly encouraged to carpool and arrive when the library opens at 10 AM.  Call the library at 831.647 for more information.  See you there!
