Reading Machine and STREAM Services
The Reading Machine and STREAM programs are mobile outreach programs designed to provide literacy and science programming and library services to preschool classrooms throughout Monterey County including Head Start Classrooms, childcare centers, MAOF and other early learning locations.
Both programs are run October through May.
Reading Machine Program:
The Reading Machine Program is a FREE monthly literacy program, conducted by MCFL staff, focused on bringing literacy concepts to preschool classrooms.
Each visit includes a storytime and a process-oriented craft. Students, along with their teachers, will also visit our preschool Lean Green Reading Machine bookmobile, and, with parents' permission, will borrow books with their own library card.
Classrooms are provided with themed kits containing age-appropriate books and toys to be used at the teacher's discretion.
